Crumpet: Yes I really really was, and luckily they accept I was too, so they keep sending me money every month.
I retired and sold the house last year (I've been divorced for four years) and my kids are adults. I got rid of most of my possessions and was free to come and go and travel wherever I wanted. I'd been to Cyprus several times and like the climate, and if I do decide to settle here it's one of very few places where I can get my pension without paying UK taxes first (taxes here are much lower).
I still haven't decided whether to settle here or not - I rent an apartment - but may well decide to do so. I will probably, however, want to retain the freedom to pack it all in a backpack and move on somewhere else. I was intending to go on the 2 day cruise from here to Lebanon in the autumn (when it's cooler) but we'll have to wait and see about that in view of current events. They suspended the cruises last week (it's only about 100 miles from here).
My family (uncle and cousins) live in West Cross, between Sketty and the Mumbles. One cousin (the rich and famous one) lives in Mumbles itself. A friend and former colleague lives in Limeslade. I lived for a couple of years in Bishopston and worked in Swansea.

Crumpet: Yes, I miss it a little. I worked in Tenby for a few years - the nick is in Warren Street, opposite the PO and Frankie Booth's amusement arcade. Most of my family live in Pembs, the others near Mumbles. I shall be interested to see how I feel when I visit next month. But the UK in general? No, not much.

Crumpet: Yes, unfortunately flights here can be expensive - due largely to CY government regulations re the number of 'non package' seats allowed to be sold on charter flights.

hey i was on holiday last week and we went to a sea-side night market and there was a food stand called "roadkill restaurant".
the motto was "you kill it, we grill it".
charming place.. they had crocodile, buffalo, camel, and kangaroo and emu kebabs.
I don't think anyone has yet mentioned lava bread. It is a Welsh speciality, made from seaweed. Especially good rolled in oatmeal and fried, served with a traditional (bacon and eggs etc) breakfast.
Or faggots and mushy peas with gravy (this may need explaining for our US friends).

Crumpet: Yes, I live in Pafos, on the Tombs of the Kings Road. Over-developed, noisy, lively and good fun! The pool is warm but refreshing.

Crumpet: Take a week off, jump on a plane and come and visit me! It's hotter here (about 36 in the shade) but you'd enjoy it more! There's a communal pool, the sea is about 5 mins walk, a/c in the apartment and a big variety of bars with very cold beer within a couple of hundred yards. And you don't have to wear 'office' clothes.
